This position is primarily responsible for opening the Fitness Facility at 5:45 a.m. Monday – Friday. Provides support to the assigned recreational area. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to teaching fitness classes, providing customer service, assisting with fitness events/activities, assisting members with their fitness programs, leading /supervising assigned personnel, maintaining fitness facility/equipment, and or monitoring members.

DUTIES: This position processes and handles all daily operations upon opening, such as checking members in, renewing membership payments, registering guests, signing up new members, makes racquetball/fitness appointments, answers incoming phone calls about program/facility, performs routine cleaning assignments, locker room/sauna checks every 20 minutes and is responsible for overseeing the safety and proper conduct of members, monitoring members workout and maintains a conducive, safe morning environment. Instruct individuals and classes in fitness techniques using available equipment and planned programs. Instruction is offered to children, senior citizens, and special populations. Maintains fitness records, plans fitness programs, monitors safe usage of machines, assists in staff training, and teaches classes/activities related to fitness as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: First Aid & CPR certification required (or ability to obtain certification within the first month of hire) with six months to one year experience instructing various types of fitness programs, should have a general working knowledge of fitness equipment and fitness activities/programs or any combination of education training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must be able to lift 100 lbs. +; Age 18+.

SALARY: Pay Grade 20; $14.25 per hour; plus sick and vacation leave

WORK HOURS: Monday – Friday; 5:45 am – 10:00 am
